Teacher Bios

Susie Moore – Director/Musical Theatre

Susie started singing and dancing at the tender age of 3 with the Billie Barry Stage School. Most of her childhood memories were spent on stage performing. She took part in many Christmas pantomimes in the Gaiety Theatre throughout her childhood and teenage years. Some of her highlights were, Goldilocks and the three bears, Hansel and Gretel, Red Riding Hood, Mother Goose to name but a few.

In 1980, Susie played 2 different orphans (Duffy & Tessie) in the Musical “Annie” in the Gaiety Theatre. This ran for 11 months alongside Maureen Potter, Jacinta Whyte & Angeline Ball. In fact Susie was an understudy for the role of Annie.

Susie was no stranger to the Christmas toy shows with Gay Byrne, she also took part in the Tony Kenny & Twink Christmas shows on RTE.

After leaving Billie Barry, Susie continued with the performing arts as a teacher in Diggs Lane, where she taught Musical Theatre to children aged 3-14yrs. In 1998, both Susie and her sister Michelle opened their own stage school in Skerries with just 42 students. MSPA teach in Rush since 2007 and both schools are going from strength to strength.

Susie became a member of the Rathmines and Rathgar musical society in 1993 where she took part in many of their shows in the Gaiety theatre; some of her favourites were My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls. She was also part of “A night with Gilbert and Sullivan and the Pirates of Penance in the National Concert Hall. She has recently joined the Rush Musical Society and was involved in “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Curtains”  in the Mill Bank Theatre. The society then travelled to Sweden to perform in front of three full audiences.

Michelle Moore – Director/Creative Drama

Michelle started singing and dancing at the age of 3 with the Billie Barry Stage School following in the footsteps of her older brother and sisters. Michelle took part in five consecutive pantomimes in the Gaiety Theatre, where she has some wonderful memories, working with Maureen Potter in Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the three Bears, Hansel & Gretel, Aladdin & Cinderella. Michelle also took part in Sunday night at the Olympia for 8 weeks.

Michelle was also featured on various RTE Television which included, The Late Late Toy Show with Gay Byrne, The Mike Murphy Show and The Tony Kenny Christmas shows. Michelle was on a commercial for TV/Cinema.

During her teenage summer months, Michelle performed in Butlins (Mosney) alongside Jacinta Whyte in their Cabaret and also performed in the Shelling Hotel, Raheny.

After leaving Billie Barry, Michelle continued with the performing arts as a teacher in Diggs Lane where she taught musical theatre to children aged between 3-14yrs. When the school moved to the “The Factory” Burrow Street, Michelle continued teaching with them for a further four years. In 1998, Michelle decided, along with her sister Susie to open a stage school in Skerries.

Michelle joined the Rush Musical Society in November 2006, where she took part in the following:- ‘07 “Pirates of Penance”, ’08 “Hollywood Pinafore”, ’10 “Fiddler on the Roof” and hopes to take part in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” in March ’15.

Susan Moore – Musical Theatre/Tap

Susan, born into a theatrical family, started singing and dancing at the Billie Barry Stage School at the age of 3, where she was involved in a wide variety of professional work. She performed with the RTE Concert Orchestra in the National Concert Hall on many occasions and appeared in numerous Christmas pantomimes & summer productions in both the Gaiety and Olympia theatres some of which include Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Babes in the Wood and Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, performing alongside some of Ireland’s top entertainers/actors.

Susan has also featured on various TV shows including the Late Late Toy Show, Bibi, Live at 3, Sunday Night at the Gaiety/Olympia, to name but a few, and has featured on a number of TV and radio commercials. She has also recorded singles accompanying some of Ireland’s leading artists such as the Dublin City Ramblers & Susan McCann.

Susan was later involved with the R&R Musical Society, where she took part in their production of Carousel at the Gaiety and also their 90th anniversary show in the National Concert Hall.

Susan was delighted to come on board as a Musical Theatre teacher with the MSPA in November 2006, where she teaches children from the age of 3 to 18.

Michelle Harris ARIAM – Creative Drama/Page to Stage/Speech and Drama

Michelle has been involved in the worlds of Musical Theatre, Vocal Training and Drama from the very young age of 5. She began by attending Billie Barry Stage School and various other classes and workshops around Dublin. As a child Michelle trained with Speech and Drama teacher Abigail Daly, and competed in competitions around the country, winning various prestigious medals. Completing several grades with the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Speech and Drama. Michelle is now accredited with ‘Associate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music’ in Drama Teaching.

Michelle went on to study drama with The Gaiety School of Acting, graduating in 2007. She received vocal training from Frank Merriman at the Belcanto School of Music in North Great Georges Street. Singing with the Christchurch Youth Choir and touring Belgium are some of her fondest memories from her teenage years.

As an adult performer, Michelle is a member/performer of many companies and societies around the country, including La Touché Players, Festival Productions and Rush Musical Society to name but a few. With Festival Productions, Michelle performed in the 2008 production of the ‘Gilbert and Sullivan classic Pirates of Penzance’ Scooping nine awards at the international Light Opera Festival in Buxton England. With Rush Musical Society, Michelle travelled as ‘Silvia Sin’ to Sweden, performing three nights. In 2009 Michelle was awarded runner up ‘Best Female Comedian 2008/2009 by the Affiliation of Irish Musical Societies (A.I.M.S) for her part in ‘God Bless Archie Dean.’

Michelle has Produced and Directed two very successful performances with ‘The Monday Players’. The first showcasing the talent of our young actors which included scripts from Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare and Willie Russell, the second was a performance of the Brian Friel play ‘Dancing At Lughnasa.’ Both were enjoyed immensely by cast and crew alike, and were highly praised by audiences.

Michelle believes that like all adults, each child is an individual. They will progress and develop at their own pace. Creative Drama is a chance for children to learn and play in a controlled and secure environment. They learn to push their own boundaries of confidence, preparing them for a world full of challenges and obstacles. Creative Drama gives children the sense of self, to be confident and empathy towards the feelings of others. Apart from all this, Michelle is from the school of high energy and will ensure that these lessons are masked with fun, games, new experiences and interactions.
